Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
"I am 16 years old and was charged with going going 88 in a 65mph zone, I showed up to court and the police officer was not there...I plead not to contest and was then charged with a $261 fine and traffic school...I thought if the officer didn't show up my ticket would be tossed????

The officer doesn't have to be there on your first court date - only if you had set it for trial and he didn't show... then they would dismiss the case.
