Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
Bench warrant
I have a bench warrant that has been over my head since around 1995. It was for not showing up in a San Fernando, CA court. The ticket was for no insurance, no registration, and an expired license.
I want to go to court and take of this matter now. However at 65 and my wife being ill and with no income of her own it makes it a little hard to leave her alone if I get locked up. I realize this is my responsibility and this should have been taking care of along time ago.
I need advice on what might be the outcome once I go to court.

Re: Bench warrant
Contact the public defender in San Fernando and request help. The original offenses do not involve jail time. However, the failure to appear could involve jail time. The amount of time you are in jail if you self surrender will be much less than the jail time if you are arrested on the warrant. Contact the public defender's office in that county.
