Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
My bestfriend had a "moving ticket/violation" from an alley in Beverly Hills, California last year 2009. He paid the fine via telephone. He did not get any confirmation number or receipt as he paid it by credit card. He received his notice to appear in court. And so he did appear in court on the date stated. However, the clerk did not find his name there and then his notice wasn't stamped at least that he appeared in court. The dilemma is, I asked him why delay making an appointment to appear in court so he can get his drivers license (it has expired this year 2010). He is afraid he might get a warrant. That scared me too. We can't afford anything at this time and especially during this tough economy. I would like to seek legal consult regarding this matter before we take a step on the process of getting back the drivers license.Thank you. (don't publish if possiblle)

I'm sorry he didn't get his ticket stamped when he went to court (although you have the credit card statement, right?) The Beverly Hills court isn't going to throw him in jail for a simple failure to appear. You can also hire an attorney -- should be inexpensive -- to deal with it so you don't have to travel.
