Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
coming up the hill, i see the chp car on the right (about 300 feet ahead) and slow down
he pulls me over and says i was going 87.
i want to know if it is possible for him to clock me with his window closed and him facing forward, at 300 feet distance.
by the time i was passing him i was going about 60-65.
i know the laws says 65 TOPS or else but, 70-75 is still acceptable.
i was not going 87, thats for sure.
the sorrounding traffic was going about the same as me

What makes you think that going 70-75 is acceptable. It is in clear violation of the speed law. And if you were going that fast going up a hill, you must have had the pedal down all the way. The police do not have to stop everyone who is speeding [how can one officer stop that many cars]. I believe a radar gun is not effected by whether the window is open or closed. if you slowed going uphill and passed him ast 60-65, you probably were going at least 70-75 mph before you slowed down.
Some traffic court commissioners will reduce the fine if you plead guilty and have the money to pay the fine.
