Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

I completed a Trial by Declaration, was found guilty, and requested a Trial de Novo which was granted. The trial date was set for 4/13/10. In the mail today (4/1/10), I received a copy of the officer's request for Postponement. It seems the officer will be on vacation on 4/13/10. I am going to respond within 5 days, but I don't know what the law states relating to this matter. Do I have a good chance of getting the request denied? If it is denied, does that mean the court will automatically dismiss the ticket? Or, will I have to show up to court and then hope the officer doesn't come back from vacation early? I live in So. California.

The court will grant the request. Pray that the cop doesn't show up at the next court date. Get a good book on how to fight your ticket from the library, or from my website. Maybe this delay will give you a chance to conduct discovery if you haven't done any up to now.
