Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

driving w/out license

hi my boyfriend and i were driving to a drop off a friends car , i had been driving but i asked him to drive for me since i was pregnant and was starting to feel really sick and needed to rest a bit but then we got caught inside a checkpoint and they pullled us over and they made me sit outside in the cold for a long time knowing my situation and seeing how i wasnt dressed to be out in the cold weather , i told him i made him drive for me and that i was pregnant but they didnt care and he got his car impounded and since we couldnt afford a taxi they made us walk all the way back to where he lives and this gave me a fever and i couldnt stop throwing up , i knew something bad was gonna happen with me or the baby and i miscarried . I dont think it's fair that they make my boyfriend pay for the ticket or the impounding when the only reason he had to drive was because of how sick i was , i lost my baby will the courts still find him guilty or will they dismiss the ticket what are our chances?

You really miscarried because the police left you out in the cold and exposed to the elements? I am sorry this happened to you, and I would like to hear a lot more about this. You may have an excellent lawsuit for your having been deprived of your civil rights and those of your unborn child. The legal time limits for these types of lawsuits can be very short, watch out! I would be interested in defending your BF's traffic ticket as well.
