Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

I dropped my 84 yr old mom off for grocery shopping at her favorite stores. I parked the car and had coffee. As I approached my car when it was time to pick up mom I was surrounded by four people who were San Francisco Traffic enforcers for handicapped placards. I explained the use of the placard that it belonged to my mom. I was issued a $966.00 citation.

Will protesting in traffic court help waive citation fine? What are my options?

I'm not clear on the sequence of events.... If you're saying that you dropped her off, drove to another location and parked in the handicapped spot, then went to get back in to drive to the original store and pick her up... then I tend to think your citation was correct. The placard and use of handicap spots is for when the person entitled to use the placard was in the car.

If I misread this and you dropped her off and parked in a handicap spot for her convenience, then you may have a defense.

This is fact specific and my brief answer is not intended to provide you with a thorough analysis or legal advice on what you should do.
