Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Is there any use in fighting my first speeding ticket?

I received a speeding ticket while driving my cat with renal failure to vet. I love my cat very much and was in tears when policeman stopped me. I explained I had to get him to vet, that it was an emergency. He ignored me I suppose because it was 'only' a cat and even took his time asking me questions like, ''Did I own the van; what year was it?''. He went to his bike and wrote up a ticket. He could see from my driving record that I'd never had a ticket in my life and that I was in tears and very upset, but he didn't give me a break. It doesn't matter but this was a big street and hardly a car in site, although he put down medium traffic. I think they made it 35 mph to trap people, but that doesn't matter either. My bills so far are up to around $3,000 for treatment for my cat, and a big charge for a traffic ticket is too much. I will also have to attend traffic school. I suppose it would be a joke to the court to explain how upset I was and that this was an exception, which my driving record proves. Help!

Nolo press publishes a book on how to fight your traffic ticket. You can request traffic school and request that the court reduce the charges to you because of the extenuating circumstances.
