what is the fine for tossing a lit cigarette butt out of a moveing vehicle and is it considered amoveing violation

You could be cited for violating Cal. Vehicle Code � 23111, the Paul Buzzo Act, which provides:

"No person in any vehicle and no pedestrian shall throw or discharge from or upon any road or highway or adjoining area, public or private, any lighted or nonlighted cigarette, cigar, match, or any flaming or glowing substance."

The usual punishment is a few hundred dollars in fines plus a day or two of community service, sweeping up cigarette butts.

I am not aware that the penalty includes points on your license, but I could be wrong.
