Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
Hit and run
I have followed a car too closely and touched his car from behind. I did not stop as there was a lot of traffic. The car involved took down my license plate number and went to the police. I have received a letter from his insurance asking for payment which I did. Am I charged with hit and run??

Re: Hit and run
Only a prosecuting agency can bring criminal charges....not an insurance company. However you should not speak to law enforcement, should they attempt to speak to you and, before you give a taped statement to the insurance company, you should seek legal counsel, to know the things that can harm your legal interests.
