Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Is it illegal to Eat/Drink while driving in the State of California as of today (April 1, 2010), or was it simply an April Fools joke?

The busybodies in Sacramento outlawed talking and texting, even though the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says it's not a significant hazard. As of today, fast food and car radios remain legal, enjoy them while you can.
