Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
impeding traffic ticket, need advise
heres the scenario to help you decide..... i was at an intersection waiting to make a left. the light turned green, the car in front of me went and i followed, but before we made a left, someone from the opposite traffic made a right. at that time a big truck was getting out of a parking lot, so it made us all stop and made me stop in the middle of the crosswalk. after stoping, the light turned green for the opposite traffic and i was blocking a bus. cop sees me and gives me a ticket for impeding traffic, but i dont think he saw the scenario, anyways, i also have a record of speeding tickets and failure to stop, what are my chances if i plead my case to a judge? i live in california, city of glendale.

Re: impeding traffic ticket, need advise
You should consult the Nolo Press book "How to Fight Your Traffic Ticket" This book has a lot of information about traffic tickets.
I copied a section on blocking intersections below.
7. The Anti-Gridlock Act (VC 22526)
You may not enter an intersection (or a railway or
railway transit crossing) unless there is sufficient space
on the other side to pull into without obstructing the
through passage of vehicles from either side. This is called
the Anti-Gridlock Act of 1987. Simply put, in crowded
traffic, you have to make sure there will be space for your
car to fit into so that you dont block the intersection. A
wrong guess is punishable by fines of $50 to $100 on a first
offense, $100 to $200 on a second offense, and $250 to
$500 on a thirdplus the 170 to 190% penalty assessment.
(These enhanced penalties only apply where signs about
the law are posted at the intersection by local authorities
(VC 42001.1).) This violation is reported to the DMV,
but does not count as a point toward your violation point
count (VC 12810.4).
