Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
At an intersection where there is a stop sign northbound and southbound, but not eastbound and westbound who has the right of way? Assuming all other laws were obeyed and the driver proceeded across the intersection after stopping at the sign and no cars were seen but it resulted in an accident. Who would be at fault?

If there are signs at the north and southbound lanes, drivers going north or south must stop and may only proceed when it is safe to do so. The east and westbound drivers have the right of way since they are not regulated by signs.
