Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
Is there any law pertaining to stoplights in CA with a requirement to stop within a maximum distance behind the white line? e.g. regardless on whether one SHOULD or not, if one wanted to stop 3 car lengths behind the white line, would it be legal to do so?

NO. That is stopping in the middle of the street, impeding traffic. And pc for DUI.
