Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
Is it legal to force someone to give a drivers licence #?
About last week a person who i knew backed up into my car and damaged my licence plate cover and licence plate. They must both be replaced. since it is not my fault and he refuses to pay i have no choice but to ask his insurance company. He wont give me any of his information (licence # or insurance company). i know his name and place of work. Is it illegal for him to hold this information from me?

He is required to provide you with his name, address, and his insurance company. Failure to do this is a misdemeanor.
