Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Hello, one night around 10 pm when it was completely dark outside, my friend offered to drive me home from another friend's house. When the car was on the freeway/highway, my friend asked me to borrow her $2,000 without giving me any reason why she wanted to borrow some money, so I refused to let her loan the money. Then, she parked on the shoulder of the freeway saying that she forgot her cell phone in the trunk, and she asked me to walk to the trunk to get the cell phone for her saying she needs to make a quick call to someone. As soon as I got out of the car and closed the door, she drove off and left me all by myself on the shoulder of the freeway. It was dark and cold, and my cell phone unfortunately ran out of battery. I had to walk to a nearby exit and found a gas station and called home. Is it legal for her to do something like that? Can I sue her for kicking me out of her car on the shoulder of the freeway all by myself at night when it's completely dark? Luckily nothing happened to me, but lots of dangerous things could have happened to me in that situation such as that somebody could have stopped on the freeway and kidnapped me or some car could probably hit me; can I also sue her for something like "endangering my welfare"?
