Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

i have been parking in my back alley for over a year. it is a dead end alley and it also is my entrance to the back of my house. there is no signs posted ANYWHERE that there is no parking in this alley. All of a sudden i wake up to 3 no parking tickets. I have no room to park in front of my house due to the apartments across the street. i have gotten 6 parking tickets for parking in the alley that i have parked in for over a year. please help thank you
