Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
A police officer pulled me over based on another police officers observation of me while he was sitting at a coffee bean. I checked my phone while at a red light then placed it back down. I was later pulled over and given a citation for using my phone. The cop giving me the citation never even witnessed me on the phone. Is this illegal?

It is legal for an officer to pull you over based upon another officer's observations but it may not be legal for an officer to give you a ticket for looking at the phone.
