Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
police vehicle search
Is it legal for the police to search a locked vehicle that they are having towed for partially blocking a driveway? The vehicle was registered and parked across the street from the registered owner. There was nothing illegal in the vehicle. There were no fines due on the vehicle. What are their rights and mine in this situation?

Re: police vehicle search
The search is done under the pretense of preparing an inventory of the contents of the vehicle to prevent loss of the owner's property. The inventory search is generally a legal search.
