Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
question regarding license plates
so a while ago i was with some friends and 6 of them were pulled over and the officer said he was going to arrest me for attempted arson, because my truck made some sparks from hitting the ground on a bump. luckily i wasnt pulled over, and he does not have my license plate but only what my truck looks like. would he be able to arrest me since my truck looks different now? and if he did, without my license plate number would he stand a chance in court?
Thank you for your time.

Re: question regarding license plates
No, arson is a general intent crime that requires intent or extreme recklessness amounting to "intent" per se. The officer appears to be simply bluffing or on a power trip, however, you may be charged with other offenses depending on the overall factual circumstances.
