Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
Hello. I received a traffic citation for crossing double yellow lines, not having proof of registration, or a drivers license. My citation entailed an appearance in court so I could prove I have a drivers license and registration. I missed my court date, and I just received a letter saying that there is a warrant for my arrest, but I could avoid actually being arrested by paying my bail via check. It was postmarked for November 14th, but the "Action Date" on the letter said November 13th. Does this mean I missed my window to pay my bail? Also, I tried to pay this new citation through LA superior court's online service, but it said my only option is to schedule an arraignment at this time. What does that mean??? What is an arraignment, and is this indicative of me not being able to pay the bail anymore due to a missed window? I'm really in a panic, thank you for your time!

Do not panic. An arraignment is an initial court date in a criminal or a traffic matter. At the arraignment you will have your choice--either to pay the fine or to set the matter for trial. If you have proof of registration and a driver's license take them with you. Show them to the judge. it will make your life easier and decrease the fine.
