Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

I recently received an infraction in California for illegal window tinting on my front side windows. I am wondering if this ticket is lawful seeing as my vehicle is registered in a different state and my drivers license is also from a different state. I have no residence nor work in California.

You need to read California Vehicle Code Section 26708 which starts off with "no person shall drive any motor vehicle . . ."

This section clearly applies to any person driving a car in California. It does not mater where you live or where the car is registered.

On the other hand, if your state allows the window tinting, you may argue the statute violates the U.S. Constitution in that it is legal in your state and you were here for a visit only. You would need to research the laws of your state and be prepared to brief the issue for the Judge. I would suggest havign a lawyer prepare the brief, it will require 1-2 hours of time, for submission to the judge.

Good luck,
