Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
Red light camera violation
Several months ago I was caught by a red light camera in the San Francisco area (I live in Los Angeles) and was subsequently fined for the violation. I paid the bail of $350 but I fought the ticket by mail, and last week I rec'd a check from the Superior Court for $250. There was no letter or explanation with the check, other than on the memo line of the stub it said ''Refund for bail.'' What happened to the remaining $100 and should I call or write to the court to find out what happened?

Re: Red light camera violation
You can contact the clerk to determine what happened. However, it would appear that the court found you guilty of running the red light and then reduced the fine to $100, which may be the amount that is the fine of any person that goes to trial and is found guilty.
