Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
Requirement to keep proof of ticket paid
2 years ago i got a ticket 2 days in a row for an expired tag from the same officer. back then i questioned the validity of the second ticket since i should have 30 days to fix the problem (the registration never in fact was expired, it was paid and the DMV, as every year, didn not sent the tags in time. the officer wasn't interested in that). i got over that and paid the 2 tickets and proofed that the registration was not expired.
yesterday, i got a notice in the mail claiming that i never paid these tickets! is it my responsibility to keep some sort of proof, like a cancelled check to show that i paid this? if so, how long. these tickets were ''fix - tickets''.
thank you very much!

Re: Requirement to keep proof of ticket paid
You should keep proof of the payment of tickets. After all it is you that must pay if the court makes a mistake.
