Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
My Responsibility if I co-sign Rental Car for 20yr son..
I have an interesting question? My son is coming to visit me . I will be renting a car for him and will sign him as a second driver on the car. I am remarried and my current husband fears he will be liable if for some reason he is driving and has an accident. Would he? I am the one who would co-sign , not him. How far is he legally suceptable. The car has insurance , that we are paying extra for.The leasing company knows his age as well and have acknowledged that for an extra fee. Thanks

the law will not make you responsible for an accident he has just because you rented him a car. however, you might be responsible for damage to the rental car depending on the terms ofthe contract.
