Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
Sound system in my car ticket
I got a ticket for having my sound system in my car too loud in california. The police officer was in a car and coming perpendicular to me. He said the law states if the stereo can be heard from 50 feet away it was illegal and that he heard it from well over 50 feet. It was in the middle of the day in cool weather. My question is how can this law be enforced, when the distance in which sound can be heard is changed by too many factors, such as; temperature, humidity, wind, objects, and many other things. Therefore how can I possibly know when the stereo is at a volume that can be heard from 49 feet or less. That and how can anyone know if that cop has great hearing ability. The measurement is too subjective. So my question is do you think these are grounds to get out of having the ticket?
Thanks!

Re: Sound system in my car ticket
This is a good question and you certainly are encouraged to try and argue the vagueness issue in court. Also, can I come and smash your car to bits with a sledgehammer?
