Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Speeding Ticket

I got a speeding ticket 9/19/2006, and after that i moved to different address and i forgot to change my address in DMV record and totally forgot about the speeding Ticket. Now i finally changed the address and i received the fine for $433 dollars with $55 reissue fee for my suspend license. The police wrote $70 on my ticket. Is the $433 amount make sense? Is there anyway i can avoid to pay the $433? It is too much for me

Re: Speeding Ticket

You could go to the court where the fine was imposed and get the matter put on calendar. Then explain why you missed the court date and ask the court reduce the fine. Many courts do not allow the matter to be put on calendar until the fine is paid. Check with the clerk of the court as to the options. Also try the Nolo Press book "How to Fight Your Traffic Ticket"
