Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Two speeding tickets and CHP quotas

At the end of February I received two speeding tickets within 3 days. During that particular week I noticed the CHP really coming down on a lot of drivers. I saw at least 3-4 drivers pulled over on my commute to work and even more driving home EVERY DAY during that week. This is NOT usual in my commute area. I just wanted to note this action.

I would like to fight these tickets as I feel it was unwarrented. The speed I was driving is VERY typical for the commute time and areas concerned. I have been SAFELY driving that stretch for 6 years in the same manner with no problem and never received a ticket. Now suddenly I get ticketed twice within three days for what I consider normal commuter driving. Yes, it is more than the speed limit, but to do otherwise you would have to drive on the shoulder.

I would probably just pay the fine and go to traffic school if it was just one ticket, but because there are two, I'm going to wind up stuck one way or another. Do I have a fighting chance? What is the best way to proceed when having two tickets in such a short space of time?

Thanks for your posting.

I can't recommend enough that you fight both tickets. Although I am biased, I know from experience that attorneys are more successful than the lay person in fighting tickets such as yours, and you do have defenses from the little bit of information you've given.

I hope this answers your question as to "do you have a fighting chance", but if you have other questions, want more information, or would like legal representation, please email me directly at [email protected]. I'm happy to help in any way that I can, and I wish you best of luck.
