Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Statue of Limitiations Traffic Violation/Collection Agency

I received a notice re: three prior unpaid traffic violations which date back to 1994 & 1995. These violations were forwarded by the County Superior Court to a debt collection agency. One, isn't there a statue of limitiations, if in fact, these are debts? Two, by law, we are only required to keep financial records dating back seven years, I have no records indicating the validity of these debts. Lastly, I'm concerned of the authenticity of this so called collection ageny and/or damage to my credit.

What is your recommendation on response to this nuisance?

In my experience traffic tickets are collected by placing a hold on you license. Send a letter to the collection agency demanding proof of the tickets.
