Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
As first to come to a stoplight, I often stop well short of the white line (2 car-lengths or so) in order to have room to start rolling as I anticipate the light will be turning green. What, if any, law(s) am I breaking when I do this?

You are failing to stop at a red light, irritating the drivers behind you so they might think of trying to back into you, and are being foolish.
