Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

suspended drivers license

If you are in a minor car accident, damages are under $750.00 to your car( your at fault) and the other car sustained no damage, but you had no insurance, and got it a few days later, what are the limitations on the DMV suspending your license? the dmv says if the other persons insurance company would give us a statement that there were no damages, then it will be ok, but the insurance co says they wont give us one!! is there anything that we can do?? my fiance is going to lose the best job he's ever had, if they suspend his license...please help!! thank you so much!!

Re: suspended drivers license

Driving without insurance is illegal, and if all that happens is your license gets suspended you got off easy. Besides, you have no way of knowing if the other driver is going to claim property damage or even personal injury (they have two years to sue). You could try asking the other driver -and- the other vehicle owner to certify that the damage was less than $750 and they were not injured, but I am not optimistic. Where did you get this guy? If you marry him and he gets into another accident without insurance YOU will owe thousands.
