Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
Suspended License in Traffic Ct. but Criminal LawI
Over past 4 yrs. I received 4 driving on suspended lic.(14601 VC)in 1 county along with 4 failure to appears. Finally appearing in Superior Court crammed full of ''traffic violation offenders'', my name was called. All driving on suspended's dissmissed but fined $300 for ea. of 4 FTA's.Also the court did not bring up previous conviction of 2 of the same violations(14601.1VC)driving on suspended in neighboring county(fined $925.00 + 4 days work project). Also, I have not yet been to Court in southern CA. for ticket W/same violation received approx. 2 mos. ago.The total is up to 8 with 4 dismissed, 2 paid fines + work proj., 1 pending in So.Ca.,and 1 received last wk.in different county from above though still in CA. DMV will not renew my CDL as something pops up. So is each county seperate from the state of Ca. in regards to all ''Criminal Court'' cases or is there such thing as ''Traffic Criminal Court'' and would or could I be classified ''Habitual Criminal'' somewhere in CA. Last, can I start fresh in a totally different county in CA. when I do get my license back, and Yes I am somewhat confused. Any close to definate answers would be greatly appreciated.Thank You

You have been very lucky up to this point. The courts of each of these counties could have sentenced you to jail and run the sentences consecutively. Thus you could have been sentenced to jail for more than a year. You should immediately stop driving until you get your license reissued. If you continue to drive it will catch up with you and you will be in jail for a lengthy time.
