Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
Ticket for proof of Insurance
I am now 30 yrs. I got a ticket in 2002 in california for lack of insurence, I couldn't pay the ticket because I was out of work and on disability as a result of an assault on my person. ( I lost an eye,hit with rock through eye glasses) My mother moved us quickly to Hawaii and I didn't get to go to court in my defense. Now I can't get a license in Hawaii until I pay the ticket in California. How do I attend court in california from hawaii? possibly through the mail? Please help how can I clear this violation so I can drive again. I still am on state assistance and low income in Hawaii. Thank you!

If you can't go to court yourself, you need to get a lawyer to go to the court to put the case on calendar, and possibly recall and quash the warrant. If you didn't plead guilty or no contest then the case will be re-set on the calendar. If you did plead, then you must pay the fine.
