Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

ticket for not stopping

I was driving down this four lane street, and the car to my left stopped but I didnt stop. This was not at a traffic light or crosswalk, just in the middle of a street and a police officer pulls me over and gives me a ticket for not stopping because a pedistrain was waiting in the middle of the street to cross and I did not stop for him. Is it a law for me to stop if the car next to me stops to allow a person to jaywalk across the street?

Re: ticket for not stopping

The answer would depend upon the facts in your case. That is the street and the nature of roads intersecting with it.

Nolo Press publishes a book How to Fight Your Traffic Ticket. This book is well written, easy to understand and should answer your question.
