Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Got a traffic ticket in the state of CA. For driving with no front or rear plates and without a valid registration. The vehicle is not mine nor am I in anyway finacially resposible for this vehicle. The ticket is a fix it ticket but the owners are not going to have it fixed the vehicle is up for repo and has many outstanding parking tickets. I was unaware of any of these problems.

Is there anything I can do to take care of this and get the judge to give me a court date I cannot afford to pay this fine

Go into court at 8:30 AM sharp any day and ask for jail time in lieu of a fine. With LA County jail overcrowding you'll be in and out faster than Paris Hilton (almost certainly by midnight).

How can you say that you were unaware of "any of these problems". Certainly, you could see that there were no front or rear license plates on the car. Having said that, I believe that if all you got was a fix-it ticket, you would just need to show that you were not the owner of the vehicle.
