Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Traffic ticket warrant

My son was stopped last week for expired tags on his car, at that time the officer informed him he had a warrant for his arrest and it was a $1500.00 bail, the officer talked to his supervisor and wrote a ticket informing him of the warrant, took his license and told him because the bail was low they would let him go, but go to court and take care of it. It is a speeding ticket that he did forget to take care of in Fullerton, California, charge vc22350, vc12500(a). He has been homeless for months and his mail was piling up at the house, we talked him into moving in and trying to help him get back on track and then this came up. Now that it is a warrant will he be arrested when he goes to the courthouse to resolve it?

Re: Traffic ticket warrant

It is unlikely that he will be arrested when he appears in court. The particular commissioner or judge will make some difference in what will occur at court. He is much less likely to be arrested if he goes to court and explains to the court why his missed the court hearing.
