Is it true that in the state of California I cannot drive with car dice hanging from my rearview mirror?

It's true. Vehicle Code section 26708(b) says that you may not have any object or material placed, displayed, affixed or applied in or upon the vehicle which obstructs the driver's clear view through the windshield or side mirrors. Fuzzy dice would fall in this category, as do those pine tree shaped air fresheners, plastic leis, and anything else you hang from your mirror.
