Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
Is weaving within your OWN lane on a motorcycle illegal? The common use of this is to avoid obstacles, keep tread wear even, and to warm the tires once you initially start riding. I cannot find anything in the California laws against it or saying that it is legal.

I don't know whether the specific act of weaving is illegal. But, the police are allowed to use tell tell signs of fatigue, drunkenness, etc. Therefore, if that is your concern, you could be pulled over if you are seen weaving and the cop does not know why. Also, it could be argued that weaving is distracting to other drivers and therefore unsafe.
I ride myself, if your concern is the police - try explaining the situation. Many of them ride. If you get a ticket anyway - fight it & explain your situation to the judge.
