Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

About 2 years ago i was hospitalized for a few days. In hospital I was told they could get me medical so my bill would be paid. However they did not do this and I was denied medical and have an outstanding bill. They have stopped bothering me for collections now but my concern is I am now dying of cancer and have very little to give over to my son when I die, could they go after him for the bill? If so is there anything I can do before I die to stop it, I still don't have the money to pay it off, right now I can't even pay funeral expenses.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Unless your son personally guaranteed any of your debt, he cannot be liable for your debts, so I hope that makes you feel better. One caveat, however. If your son receives any assets from your estate, and the creditors find out about it, they could try to go after any assets that your son receives if they decide its worth the trouble.
