Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

When I was 9 years old my sister and I were hit by a drunk driver . My mother who adopted me and my sister when I was 7 sued the driver and the company he worked for . I received $19000. in compensation. I just turned 18 and there is only $1500 in the account. My adopted mother who sent me into foster care when I was 12 took the money out and spent it on vacations for our family of 4. I vaguely remember them having me sign something at the bank. Is this legal?

If you were a minor, more than likely not, but it may depend on the type of account it was held in (guardianship), but generally minors can not enter into agreements. There are types of accounts that will allow the guardian access. In this situation, I would think that you would have an action against her. I suggest starting with the local DA and explain what happened to them. After that, then try consulting with local counsel.
