It is rarely possible for a Trustee to be in a position to make a distribution right at the end of the 120 day contest period, but if you are receiving a small specific bequest or other specific gift it may be possible for the Trustee to make a distribution that quickly. Usually it takes time to figure out if creditors need to be paid or if property needs to be sold or tax returns filed, etc.... All of these are reasonable reasons for delaying distribution. And asking for an accounting is not a contest and does not have to be done within the 120 day period, assuming no prior accountings have been served on you recently.
