Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
Thank you for answering my last question so promptly. Another question. I am the executor of an estate of less than $100,000. I did an affidavit [ProbC 13101] and w/drew money from a bank and have rec'd several checks to me as executor. Banks are telling me I must get court approval [letters of administration] to open a bank account for the estate. Is this true? If so, how?

Some banks require court documents in order to open an estate bank account. Some will do not, and all you need is the affidavit. It just depends on which bank you approach to set up an estate bank account. So you will need to call around and find one that will open an estate account for you without probate papers.
