If you bring the payments on the houses nearly current, the foreclosures should be stopped. It seems that loan modifications are few and far between, and might be difficult to obtain because you must meet the banks' criteria to qualify for them. You should ask your attorney for an itemization (accounting) of the work he has performed for the money you paid, and have an experienced attorney review his accounting. You should also obtain your file from the attorney so that you will have evidence of what he has done (or not done). Keep the file intact.
