the attorney I hired to handle the probate in the death of my husband completely mishandled the case and actually walked away, but still expects me to pay. Can I sue her?

You can sue anyone. A lawyer would need to see all of the facts to reasonably determine that you can prevail. Also, you're entitled to participate in non-binding fee arbitration to try to cut or eliminate the amount the attorney claims is still owed.
