How do I know my attorney's billing statements are legit and not just over inflated expenses he makes up?

For many of the items billed you can not know for sure. You can ask for more details and ask why researching X took so long, but even if you got an estimate from an expert probate atorney, it would be a range of total charges. Some attorney's will give up some fees if the client is really angry.
