Bank Accounts

I am the power of attorney for my dad and he recently passed away. Does his bank accounts go into probate? When someone dies do their assets go into probate no matter how many assets they have?

Technically, yes, unless he had your name on the account as a beneficiary of a Totten trust account. Estates without real estate, under a statutory amount, and when there is but one heir, can be "probated" by affidavit.
