Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
Does a beneficiary have the right to request/review an accounting statement from the trustee *before* signing a release, even though it's been less than a year since the decedent's passing?

A beneficiary has the right to never sign a release. Under no circumstances should a beneficiary sign a release without having received a full accounting and disclosures. It is a breach of the trustee's fiduciary duty to the beneficiary even to ask for one without full accounting and disclosures.
