Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Bills after death

My grandmother died last week and my grandfather died 3 years ago. She put me on some of her accounts so I would be able to take care of her finances while she was laid up with cancer. Now that she has passed there are bank accounts and credit cards with debt and they are telling me its my problem and won't let me close it without paying off the debt first. She owned a house but it was left to us grandkids and that is debt over $600,000. Is her debt now mine?

Re: Bills after death

I'm sorry about your grandmother's death.

The answers to your questions depend on the laws of the state where your grandmother resided. I don't understand the issue with the bank account and the credit card, unless the credit card is somehow tied to that bank account.

I would need to analyze exactly what's going on here to answer your questions.

If your grandmother's house was in California and you need assistance with the probate, I would be happy to assist.
