Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My ex boyfriend made me signed a promissory note during our relationship.The money stated on the note was on the basis of sharing on the expenses of our dates. I He told me that he would get rid of it but did not do so. I payed portion of it. However, months after our break up he is threatening to sue. I talked to him and now it seems like he is asking for more than I remember. He never gave me a copy of the note. Now I am scared. Please help.
