Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
How much can a California attorney charge for a house that had to go into probate (house appraised at $315,000 with $141,575 in equity?) California law sets a limit -- what would that be?

The statutory limit is 4% of the first 100k, 3% of the second 100k, 2% of the next 400k, and so forth on the gross value of the estate, plus costs ie filing fees, etc; some cases will generate extraordinary fees when justified, such as real estate transactions.

Mr. Waid is right on. If you would like to see that in monetary terms I have a probate calculator on my website. http://www.californiaprobate.info/probate-fee-calculator/
